  The Cyprus Foods and Wine Festival is a family event and will showcase the famous Cypriot Commandaria wine which is one of the oldest wines on earth. There will be a fusion of musical acts, dance performances, delicious Mediterranean food to enjoy and Australian wine makers will be there to promote their products and showcase the history of wine making.

• ITU Gold Coast Triathlon World Championships: 9 - 13 Sep 2009

  The eyes of the triathlon world will be on the Gold Coast next year when the 2009 ITU Triathlon World Championships is staged at the Southport Broadwater Parklands. Each year the triathlon world watches as the very best triathletes from around the globe gather to contest these annual championships. The five day event will feature upwards of 6,000 athletes, attract 50,000 spectators and will showcase the Gold Coast and Queensland to a global audience. The World Championships is the pinnacle of achievement for these athletes who will qualify through national selection to represent their countries. The championships cater for Elite, Under 23, Junior, Age Group, and Athletes with a disability (AWAD) categories. Also held in conjunction will be the ITU Corporate Teams Triathlon World Championships, along with the “People's Triathlon” giving everyone the chance to be part of this wonderful sporting festival.

• Ourimbah Campus Relay for Life 2009: 18 - 19 Sep 2009

  Relay For Life is an event where teams of 10 to 15 people take turns walking or running around a local oval to raise funds for cancer research, education, support services and advocacy. Relay is for young and old and you can walk as many or few laps as you like. It's not a race and you don't need to run. A festival-style atmosphere is created around the event with participants being encouraged to pitch a tent, camp overnight and enjoy the community atmosphere. Participants are entertained with bands, food and fun. Each person on the team pays a registration fee which includes a polo shirt and breakfast. There is an early bird registration fee so get in early! Relay is a fundraising event where team members are encouraged to raise $100 each. Fundraising can be fun and easy.

  It's blooming lovely in Toowoomba when the region comes alive to celebrate one of the longest-running horticultural festivals in Australia, the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. This year marks 60 years - their Diamond Anniversary! The garden city is renowned for its beauty and friendly Carnival atmosphere in September of each year when residents and visitors enjoy 10 days of beautiful blooms, glorious gardens, fine food and wine and dazzling displays of art. • Bowral Tulip Time: 24 Sep - 7 Oct 2009

  Bowral Tulip Time is one of Australia's oldest and most beautiful flora festivals, and Australia's premier event. Corbett Gardens has over 100,000 tulips and 25,000 annuals on spectacular display. The Festival includes a variety of Food and Craft Stalls, Entertainment including clowns, music, folk dancers and daily "Talks and Tours" of Corbett Gardens. The first weekend will feature a Garden Festival, which features specialist Nurseries, talks about plants, while the long weekend will feature a Food and Wine Festival showcasing local produce and wine. The annual street parade will go ahead as usual on Saturday 26 September, commencing at 2pm. Visit some of Australia's best and most beautiful private gardens which are open to the public during Tulip Time. Also, there will be talks and tours of specially selected private garden conducted by the owners or head gardeners during the week of 28 September 2009.

  The Games is the flagship event of Australian University Sport, the peakbody for university sport in Australia. The Games concept is based on other multi-sport events such as the Olympic Games, the Commonwealth Games, and the World University Games. Over the past 13 years in excess of 60,000 student athletes have participated in the Games. As each year passes the event attracts a growing number of talented university student athletes. The Games attracts a very loyal following of students interested in competitive sport, whilst meeting new friends in a "youth festival" atmosphere.
