• 4 Wheel Drive Spectacular: 13 - 14 February 2010
  Venue: Showground, Glebe Avenue, Queanbeyan, New South Wales, 2620
  
  The 4 Wheel Drive Spectacular is held biennially in Queanbeyan to encourage responsible and recreational use of 4WD vehicles in the Australian environment. The event provides four wheel drivers or potential drivers with access to information and products that will encourage responsible outdoor activities. Features include: over one hundred 4WD vehicle and accessory exhibitions, the latest 4WD vehicles, tents and camping equipment, ACT and Regional 4WD Club displays, food stalls and coffee tents and activities for kids. The event schedule will provide many static and action displays of 4WD activities and trials. Many of the latest 4WD vehicles will be available to ride in on the exciting 4WD test track. Free parking

• Chinese New Year Festival 2010: 12 - 28 February 2010

  Celebrate the Year of the Tiger in Sydney in February 2010. City of Sydney's annual Chinese New Year Festival is the largest Lunar New Year celebration outside of Asia. Anchored by a major street parade of international standard, the Festival includes more than 40 fantastic events produced by arts organisations, museums and community groups celebrating the Lunar New Year. The Festival includes a diverse mix of performances, exhibitions, film screenings, sporting events, tours, lectures, food events and social occasions.   The UWA Perth International Arts Festival is the oldest annual international multi-arts festival in the southern hemisphere. • Rottnest Channel Swim: 20 February 2010

  The WAtoday Rottnest Channel Swim is a 19.7 kilometre swim from Cottesloe Beach to Thomson Bay on the holiday island of Rottnest. Participants can compete in teams of two or four or for the extremely dedicated, a solo crossing. The event is one of the largest open water swimming events in the world and has become an icon in Australia’s sporting calendar, capturing the imagination of the public and ocean swimmers alike. The WAtoday Rottnest Channel Swim is not reserved for the swimming elite, but provides an opportunity for all who share the common goal of striving for one’s best to compete in an environment where sporting greats rub shoulders with the weekend warrior.

• A Midsummer Nights Dream - Britten - Opera Australia: 18 February - 24 March 2010

  It has to be one of Opera Australia's most celebrated productions. Inspired by Shakespeare's poetry and Benjamin Britten's music, visionary director Baz Luhrmann dreamt up a colour-drenched realm of midsummer magic where Indian gods, British colonials and rustic clowns collided, colluded and sometimes fell in love. Now A Midsummer Night's Dream is back. It all starts with a boy. Tytania, Queen of the Fairies, is besotted with a young Indian Prince. With the help of mischievous Puck, King Oberon plans his humiliating revenge, conjuring up a web of enchantment. Meanwhile, a merry band of mortals, including four lovers and some rough and ready thespians have wandered into the fairies' realm. As the night plays out Oberon ends up catching more than he expects. Performed in English with subtitles. Running time: three hours and fifteen minutes including two twenty-minute intervals.
