• Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival: 23-28 Aug 2010

  The Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival is a schedule of fashion events for everyone to enjoy showcasing Australia's leading designer brands and retailers. Featuring five days of free and ticketed public events, the festival profiles the contemporary Spring Summer collections of local and international fashion brands as these new season's looks arrive into stores throughout the city. A specially created tent structure is erected in Martin Place, right in the heart of Sydney's central business district. This purpose built showroom boasts state-of-the-art lighting, sound and staging configurations. The event wi profile Sydney's innovative and eclectic fashion offering from major department stores to independent retail outlets and involved a multi-day schedule of lunchtime and evening runway collection shows, in-store promotions, celebrity events, exhibitions, launches and after parties in and around Sydney. The festival attracts some of Australia's biggest names in fashion, alongside a host of celebrities and international models.

• Garma Festival: 6 - 10 Aug 2010

  The didjeridu calls to all to come together, to learn from and listen to one another. It is heard each August at Gulkula, near Nhulunbuy in north east Arnhem Land, as about 2,000 indigenous and non-indigenous Australians and international visitors gather for the annual Garma Festival. Garma is a Yolngu word that describes a ‘two-way learning process'. Yolngu culture is one of the oldest living cultures on earth, stretching back over 40,000 years, and the Garma Festival is a celebration of that Yolngu cultural inheritance. Garma is regarded as Australia's major indigenous cultural exchange event. It provides ue opportunity to share knowledge and culture, by experiencing and being directly involved in a spectacular display of cultural practice and cross cultural learning, a unique line up of entertainment, education and real cultural interaction.

  Airlie Beach Race Week is a week long racing boat extravaganza, a world class event with massive benefits for not just Airlie Beach but the entire region. It attracts more than 100 racing boats, bringing more than 1000 people to Airlie Beach and creating a tourism event respected nationally and internationally. The Abel Point Marina will be the center of activities for the regatta with the marina buzzing with activity as the fleet takes over. • Audi Hamilton Island Race Week: 22 - 29 Aug 2010

  Audi Race Week is a world class yachting regatta which attracts competitors from across Australia and the world. A premiere event, it has been running for 27 years and each year improves and grows into a fantastic spectacle on and off the water. A record fleet this year ensured that the Island saw some of the best racing. The perfect weather conditions of sunny days with plenty of wind helped propel the event and showcase the beautiful Whitsundays. • ASSA ABLOY Henley-On-Todd Regatta: 21 Aug 2010

  A boat race with a unique difference - on the dry sands of the Todd River. The ASSA ABLOY Henley-On-Todd Regatta is a day of fun where teams and individuals race ‘boats', in the dry bed of the Todd River in outback Alice Springs. Have fun and enjoy the hilarity as you watch seemingly sane people race intomless 'eights', 'oxford tubs', 'bath tubs' and 'yachts' through the deep coarse sand. The event has its origins in 1962, when Reg Smith, an Alice Springs local, and his work colleagues proposed holding a regatta based on the famous Henley-on-Thames, a race between Cambridge and Oxford Universities. The idea was taken up by the Rotary Clubs of Alice Springs and the fact that the town was 1,500 kilometres from the nearest large body of water was never seen as a problem. So the ASSA ABLOY Henley-On-Todd was born. Food and drink stalls are available, with all proceeds going to the three local Rotary clubs in Alice Springs, and ultimately back to the Alice Springs Community.
  
  
  
  
  
• Santos Opening Concert: 12 Aug 2010

The annual free Santos Opening Concert is part of the Darwin Festival and is one of the most awaited events of the festival. This is a huge night of music, featuring some of the Territory's best talent, and somef Australia's finest indigenous musicians. This is an event for locals and visitors, young and old. Watch the sun set over the ocean and then sit back and enjoy the live music and entertainment under the stars.

• Memories of Elvis Weekend: 14 Aug 2010

  This year will mark the thirty-third anniversary since Elvis' untimely death. The weekend will include a candlelight vigil at the Elvis Wall of Fame on Saturday evening and Sunday morning will see a Church service at the Uniting Church Hall. The Elvis Lennox Private Collection of Elvis Memorabilia will be open all weekend at 16 Wentworth Street Parkes, along with The Kings Castle, a collection of Elvis personal memorabilia, owned by Mr Greg Page and on display at the Henry Parkes Museum Complex on the Newell Highway.
